FAQs
Q: Why are horses a good training tool? A: Have you even heard the expression "horse sense"? Horses are highly emotional animals. They also have great sensory perception. As such, they naturally reflect and respond to the emotions and moods of the humans around them. EAL participants will notice horse behavior that is a direct result of their own emotions and behavior. Even when we try to hide our feelings, horses show us how we feel. Horses offer honest and immediate feedback that can speak volumes about our inner selves.
Q: Do you have to be a good rider to participate in EAL? A: Absolutely not. Riding is NOT part of EAL. Participants work alongside the horses but never ride.
Q: Horses are so big and powerful. Will they be loose? A: No. Our primary concern is your safety and the safety of our horses. All horse work will be done in a ring, with the horse on a lead line. All horses will wear halters. Before entering the barn or ring, you'll receive clear instructions about safe behavior and proper treatment around horses.
Q: When should I call a Life Coach? A: A Life Coach can be instrumental in helping you identify goals and direction to move you along the path of life. If you feel frustrated by recurring obstacles to your happiness or your success, that's when you should call First Step to a Great Life.
Q: Will a Life Coach tell me what to do? A: At First Step to a Great Life, we help clients identify and prioritize the steps they need to take. We provide motivation to keep you moving forward until you reach your desired goal.
Q: What can you learn from experiential training? A: Unlike a lecture, the activities in an experiential training session are hands-on so the participants get involved right from the start. Instead of hearing great ideas and then trying to put them into practice back in the office, your group will work together under the direction of Joan Kelsey to identify challenges and create workable solutions. Team building begins at the very first moment. Take-aways include better communication skills, stronger team bonds and effective work relationships.
